Content Migration is the function of exporting content data out of one structured or unstructured system and into another one. As part of the process, the content itself needs to be manipulated into a different format or appearance depending upon certain pre-defined rules. Beyond this, content metadata and internal links often need to be resolved, created or improved to enhance the data integrity and classification.
Enterprise Applications change frequently. Whenever a new Content Management System is introduced, or whenever you want to consolidate multiple CMSs into a single one, content migration scheduling should be a distinct aspect of your planning.
Yes, you can. But if you want to migrate your existing data into a new CMS, contemplate whether it is acceptable to simple copy it across. Think about the volumes of data that need to be migrated. Think about your regression testing strategy. Think about resourcing and business continuity. One in five CMS migration projects fail because of an underestimation of the effort involved in distilling and migrating the content.
We can offer any level of support from advice or consultancy through to an externally hosted and resourced model which will quickly transform your content into something that improves accessibility and enhances your valuable data.
No. We are not tied to any suppliers, and we don’t try to sell you any specific brands. Our expertise falls across many different systems – both structured and unstructured. See more details about our competencies here.
Our clients have all told us that we have saved them money. The overall cost of any migration will vary enormously depending on a number of factors such as; the complexity of the migration, the volume of content to migrate, any data cleansing requirements, the reliability and accuracy of the source data. In every case that we have been involved with, there was a significant direct saving in using Proventeq rather than attempting a manual migration.
Choosing to consolidate your content into fewer systems brings with it a number of indirect benefits to your company. You may be able to realise significant savings in; reducing your support & maintenance costs for superseded systems, a better user experience for your business users (e.g. enhanced enterprise searching, common interfaces), standards compliancy which eases any future changes, consistent and ‘clean’ data.
We have a track record of being able to perform complex migrations with our flexible product suite. Complex migrations usually require significant analysis and planning. We are happy to help you with this and to offer guidance if necessary.
Our historic projects vary in size from a few thousand to several million items. The architecture of our product suite has been specifically designed to scale out to use multiple servers so that we can run several simultaneous migrations.
Proventeq have experience and expertise in the actual migration process. We explicitly focus on delivering the content migration between systems rather than wishing to control the overall CMS integration. These means that we have specialist knowledge in the tasks involved – giving you control of the big picture.
